Adult Dating Tips Explained

Dating isn’t exactly the easiest thing in the world and first dates can be downright traumatic. The awkwardness of your first afternoon or evening together can leave a mark on your burgeoning relationship that ends it before it can even begin.

That’s not to say you should abandon all hope, though. If you follow a few simple rules, you’ll be able to nail that first get together. Then you can go on to find out if you really have what it takes to go the distance. Below is a list of the things that you absolutely should not do on the first date.

Tips on Dating for Adults

#1) First and foremost, let this sink into your psyche and root in your subconscious so you can always remember it: The guy is going to pay. Stop whining about equality and stop trying to come off as being a person of the modern world. When a man asks a woman out, he just has to assume that he’s going to be footing the bill. No one wants to waste time going back and forth about splitting it, or figuring out who ate what and breaking out a calculator to divvy up the tip. If you’re the guy, just drop your card or throw the appropriate amount of twenties on the table. If you’re the woman, just let it happen. Save the arguing for your married years.

#2) Chill with the questions. No one is on trial here. Yes, you should get to know each other, but let it happen naturally through conversation. If you just ask question after question outright, then you’re not going to get anywhere.

#3) Tone it down. If she’s coming over to your apartment for dinner, don’t have a hundred romantic candles and Barry White playing in the background. You’re showing your hand and just assuming that you’re auditioning for sex. If you’re meeting at a restaurant, don’t go into it with your entire calendar memorized so you can plan your next date. Just relax and enjoy each other’s company.

#4) Stop your bitching. No one wants to sit with someone and listen to them complain for two hours. It doesn’t matter what you’re talking about; just keep it positive. If you give off a negative vibe, then the chances of a second date are practically nonexistent.

#5) Don’t talk about your exes. No one cares. No one wants to feel like they’re only holding another person’s place because you’re still hung up on them. That person stays in the past. The person that’s in front of you could very well be your future.

#6) Speaking of the future, don’t start planning it on the first date. Sure, you can talk about whether or not you want kids at some point. But don’t detail where you want to live or what the perfect life would be. You’ll have plenty of time to let both of your visions come together in a natural way.
